My
all time favorite is The Celluloid Closet which was excellent. This new film takes a different path from The Celluloid Closet
as it focus mainly on Lesbian / Transgender and Independent film rather than male gay films. In life there is a place for
everything and even though I felt a little left out I like the film. It traces a lot of gay/lesbian /transgender history along
side of the movie reviews. One nice angle of the film is that the interview a lot of directors (many gay) on how the film
came about and was made. This will go down in history as a sort of Part 2 of Gay / Lesbian / transgender film history.
The film location is New Delhi Sita
where a beautiful and intelligent young woman starts an arranged marriage to a man she does not love and he certainly is unfaithful.
They live with a large family and are owners of a video store, also living there is Radha who wants a child but cannot conceive
one. Eventually the two women enter into a sexual relationship and enjoy it more than they ever did with their husbands.
Fact-based story of top fashion
model Gia Marie Carangi follows her life from a rebel working in her father's diner at age 17 to her death in 1986 at age
26 from AIDS, one of the first women in America whose death was attributed to the disease. In between, she followed a downward
spiral of drug abuse and failed relationships.
I have been told that this story of female friendships contains
a lesbian story line but from the film I watched it is probably better to read Fannie Flagg's novel which has the same name
as it really does have a lesbian story line.
The story of petty thiefs (called Fingersmiths) in England. There are two
women who fall in love against all odds. It is written by the author Sarah Waters, who also wrote Tipping the Velvet.
This is an early classic Lesbian
film. The two lesbian lovers Jill and Ellen live on a farm in Canada in a wonderful relationship until one day Paul comes
into their lives and set out to get Ellen for his own. Since this is a 60´s film and a reflection of that time he gets Ellen
and of course Jill dies as most gays and lesbians did in the films of this era. Anyway you should see It to see how far we
have come with our cinema images.
Frida is an artist who is also a bisexual Mexican and this is the Bio about her
life.
This
film is about a girl who lives in a very small Swedish village. She is in her puberty years and to top that she is in love
with a blond who is the one girl that everyone wants. See the film to find out if she gets over her puberty and if she gets
the girl !!! A romantic movie about young love...
Ghosts
of Mars
Pam Grier plays an aggressive, gun-wielding lesbian in this science-fiction flop. Pam is
great, the film is not. The entire boring spectacle takes place on the surface of Mars, where buried ghosts turn humans into
ugly vampires.

The Girl
A painter ('the artist') and
a lounge-room singer ('the girl') continue a passionate lesbian love affair. 'The girl' is actually a high-class prostitute
whose pimp ('the man') is putting the pressure on both women to end the relationship. Words like 'prostitute' and 'pimp' seem
too harsh for the sexy-smooth atmosphere of this fascinating look at obsessive love.
Girl, interrupted
Susanna is rushed to
the hospital. Afterwards she discusses this with a psychiatrist. She had been having some delusions. She had also been having
an affair with the husband of her parents' friend. The doctor suggests that combining a bottle of aspirin and a bottle of
vodka was a suicide attempt. This she denies. He recommends a short period of rest at Claymoore. Claymoore is a private mental
hospital full of noisy, crazy people. Georgina is a pathological liar. Polly has been badly scarred by fire. Daisy won't eat
in the presence of other people. Lisa is a sociopath, the biggest exasperation for the staff - like Nurse Valerie - and the
biggest influence on the other girls in the hospital. Lisa has a history of escapes, so gaining access to personal medical
files is not a problem... Susanna's boyfriend Toby is concerned that she seems too comfortable living with her institutionalized
friends.
Girl Play
Based
on a theatre piece written by the lead actresses Harmon & Greenspan, who are also a couple in real-life. The story begins
with the women’s first meeting at an audition in L.A. They are chosen as the play’s leads, but there is one catch:
they must act as lovers.
The director (amusingly played by Dom Deluise) demands that they invest
their time in some “method acting”, which does not impress their existing partners. Apart from a few flashbacks
that allow the women to convey their “coming out experiences” – the movies rolls along to its likely conclusion….this
is a romantic comedy after all. Girl Play will be most enjoyed by those who appreciate the genre.
Girls Can’t Swim – French with English subs

Goldfish Memory
A light-hearted look at
the dangers and delights of dating in contemporary Dublin
Go Fish
This is a real Lesbian film - with no beating around the
bush ! It deals with Lesbians and their lifestyles and their search for love. Made on a very low budget and filmed in Black
& White, it is about Max who is a pretty young Lesbian who is looking for love and having trouble in finding it. A good
friend decides to take matters in her hands and introduces Max to Ely who is a not so pretty and a much older Lesbian who
wears out of date clothes and isn't at all trendy as Max is. They seem to have very little in common besides! If you want
to see if Max can look past all this and fall in love you will have to see the film.
Golden Threads
This documentary is about
the life of a 93 year old Lesbian whose name is Christine Burton. At the age of 80 she founded a network of help for Lesbians
over 50 called Golden Threads. The film will lead you to think about many subjects which we tend to try not to think about
such as getting older. Very interesting and good documentary!

This is a film about 8 Vaster women in the 1930´s. It
features the debut of Conduce Bergen who plays a character called Lackey. She returns from Europe with a mannish female lover
called the Baroness much to the surprise of her friends. Very daring for the early 60´s.
Gymnast, The
The talented Jane Hawkins
(Dreya Weber, Lovely & Amazing) was an impressive gymnast at the top of her game until a devastating injury ended her
career. Now she pours the passion, strength and discipline that once fueled her sport into maintaining both a tedious job
as a massage therapist and a loveless marriage. A chance meeting leads sets Jane on a new path: performing a CirqueDu Soleil
style aerial act with a mysterious and beautiful dancer named Serena (Addie Yungmee). Each of them are illuminated by the
presence of the other, but there are distractions. Jane is distressed by her lack of children while Serena is a closeted lesbian
who tackles stereotypes with being an adopted Korean daughter of Jewish parents. As the stunning pair prepares to audition
their act for a Las Vegas show, the gravitational pull between the two women becomes increasingly unavoidable... A visually
compelling film that challenges notions of both ability and identity, THE GYMNAST is foremost a story about hope and taking
the necessary risks to fully become yourself.
Gypo
It charts the breakdown of a working class family when the teenage daughter befriends
a refugee girl. Helen has been married to Paul for 25 years. They live a monotonous and frozen existence. Helen is desperate,
damaged, and looking for change. Paul - bitter, hypocritical and bigoted, sick and tired of being in the poverty trap - is
on the brink of a breakdown. His biggest fear is change. Into their lives comes Tasha, a Romany Czech refugee, awaiting her
British passport and her chance for freedom - a concept taken for granted by all those around her. Told in three revelatory
narratives, each from a particular character's point of view, reveals how the disintegration of an ordinary working class
family finally comes to a head when unexpected emotions are unleashed

and inseparable that people actually assume they are dating. Mortified, they both agree they must branch out and start searching
for love. He'll look for a guy for her and she'll look for a gal for him.

The Hours
Three tales interwoven across
time. In the 1940s the brilliant Virginia Woolf (Nicole Kidman) struggles with mental illness and the demands of creativity.
A decade later, a stifled suburban housewife (Julianne Moore) escapes by reading Woolf’s classic novel, Mrs. Dalloway.
In the 1960’s, lesbian Clarissa (Meryl Streep) – like Mrs. Dalloway – plans a party for her gay friend (Ed
Harris)
